Patrick the Græy [aka Patrick T. Squires] grew up in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, a suburb of Green Bay. His dad made money as a salesman, but in real life he was an artist and designer. He painted murals, carved birds and designed landscapes and fireplaces. His mother made money as an office worker, but in real life was an inventor. She invented various household items. Though she never pursued any patents, she was often heard in front of the TV saying, "I invented that!" It also happens to be that Pat's wife Pam was named as a co-inventor and received a patent in 2007. Pat has three older brothers each with various talents of their own. He attributes most of his talent and inspiration to his family and upbringing.

He attended Pioneer Elementary School where he began his unusual adventure into the fine art of trickery. As a kindergartener, he spent many recesses in the courtyard learning how to balance on a rola-bola (standing on a board rocking like a seesaw on a rolling tube) and learning how to walk on stilts. During the summer before 4th grade he got the idea that it would be fun to learn to ride a unicycle. He learned how to ride a unicycle and rode it every day to school the following spring.

In 8th grade, the physical education classes always had a unit in gymnastics. Part of the unit normally included trampolines. Apparently there was some sort of lawsuit somewhere that decided that trampolines were quite dangerous. That left a whole side of the gym empty. The teachers decided to fill the space with a section on juggling. Pat found out a week beforehand and taught himself how to juggle during that week. He got an 'A' in the juggling unit and hasn't stopped since.

During his time at Ashwaubenon High School , he participated in the Follies (a variety show put on by the students), performed in various parades, and worked at Showbiz Pizza Place dressed as a clown. He even campaigned for class clown, but was rejected because nobody got the joke. "I wasn't a real smart-alec in class, actually I was kind of a studious nerd, but hey I worked as a clown! They just didn't get the irony."

In his senior year, he had the chance to compete in Odyssey of the Mind Creative Problem-Solving Competitions. The goal was to build a balsawood structure that would hold as much weight as possible. . However, after each weight was added, the team was required to remove a section of the structure. This was all supposed to be presented in a creative manner. The team dressed up as doctors. Pat became the goofy doctor, ala Hawkeye Pierce from the TV show M*A*S*H, and juggled through the competition. They made it to state competition where they won 3rd place.

Pat went to college to get a degree in mechanical engineering at UW-Milwaukee. He really enjoyed designing and inventing new things, and was often heard saying, "I invented that!" While at UW-Milwaukee, he took a community education class on juggling and learned to juggle and pass clubs. He transferred to UW-Stout before receiving a degree.

He studied Technology Education at UW-Stout, often seen practicing juggling outside and around campus. He once was asked to be video taped by a physics professor who wanted to see what juggling looked like in super-slow motion. "It doesn't look any easier," stated the professor. He performed a few times for various events on campus and hosted other music acts at the Palm coffeehouse in the student union.

While at UW-Stout, he participated once again in Odyssey of the Mind Creative Problem-Solving Competitions. The first year the team was disqualified at the World Finals for being too creative. They won the Ranatra Fusca Award for Creativity instead. The second year they won the gold medal. Pat received a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Education in 1989.

Pat moved to Oshkosh to work as a designer for a manufacturing company. In Oshkosh, he began teaching juggling classes at the YMCA. One of his first students was Mike Price, 9 years old. He taught Mike juggling and unicycling over the next 2-3 years. In 1996, Mike won a silver medal in the International Jugglers' Association Junior Championships and in 2000 Mike became World Champion winning the gold medal in the individual championship. Mike currently resides in Las Vegas and performs around the world as a professional juggler, www.rockstarjuggler.com.

Pat coached an Odyssey of the Mind team for two years at Oshkosh West High School, advancing to state competition both years. He then met his future wife, Pam, at a folk festival in Madison, WI and eventually moved to Madison to pursue a masters degree in Gifted and Talented Education at UW-Madison. During that time he worked at Eagle School for gifted and talented children.

Pat and Pam eventually moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Pam began working at Marshfield Clinic and Pat took a part-time job at the Stevens Point Library children's department. However, Pat and Pam soon moved to Marshfield, Wisconsin and Pat began working for the Colby School District as Instructional Technologist, teaching students and teachers and administrators how to use technology effectively, efficiently and creatively.

He has performed numerous school shows for the Colby School District and parent's club. In 2001, Pat along with his wife Pam and fellow jugglers, Chris and Nate, founded the Marshfield Area Juggling Club. The club has performed in various talent shows, school events and community events over the years.

Pat began coaching juggler Nate Seefeldt in 2000 right after he won a silver medal In the IJA Junior championships. Nate again won a silver medal the following year and advanced to the finals for individuals in 2004.

Pat and Pam have led a frugal and rewarding life. They have had interesting jobs, met wonderful people and accomplished many of their dreams. Because of their ability save money, Pat has retired from education early and will be followed in a few years by Pam. "It won't a full retirement, but more like work slow down." They will make just enough money to live comfortably on since their retirement years have already been paid for.

And now after all that time and energy, Pat has become Patrick the Græy: Professional Trickster and founded the Noble Order of Tricksters. Enjoy the show.
